Week 26 - Impossible Dreams 9
Episode 3
"But," Powell says, "your brother... I mean... I thought he passed away?"
"Yes, that is what he wants the world to believe." Lamont nods. "After the spirit of the shaman gave me the Talisman, I adopted my heroic identity. My first task was to confront Captain Camouflage and stop him from constructing a new headquarters for Lamont Energy atop the ancient burial grounds of the shaman's tribe."
"But... you were the co-owner of the company... couldn't you just... I don't know... bring it up in a meeting or something?"
Lamont shakes his head. "Michael had used his illusion ray to turn the other board members against me. Striking as Coyote Man was the only way."
"All right..."
"I waited till dark and then journeyed to my brother's home. No one was there. But I was patient. I crouched on the street outside his driveway and remained hidden there for quite some time... for hours... and then... I saw his car approaching. I jumped to my feet and leapt in front."
"You leapt in front of the car!"
"My brother grasped the situation at once and he tried to run me down. Fortunately, I managed to dodge. My brother panicked. He knew he was no match for me in a direct physical contest, so he instantly concocted a diabolical plan. A car was speeding in the opposite direction and he purposely collided with it. He used his illusion ray to make it appear to the world that he had been killed. In the resulting chaos, he made his escape."
"Oh ... um..."
"In was only then that I made a horrifying discovery. My brother had not been alone in his vehicle. My poor, manipulated wife had been riding next to him. She was... she was killed in the crash as well."
"You jumped in front of the car and then there was an accident that killed your brother and your wife!"
"It only appeared that my brother had been killed. The talisman made certain that I saw the truth. Unfortunately... my wife's death was all too real. It was then that I swore that I would have vengeance. First, on Captain Camouflage, who had cost me my beloved, and then on evil doers everywhere, so that no one else would ever feel the pain that I did."
"Oh boy..." Powell shakes his head. "Oh boy..."
