Week 20 - Impossible Dreams 7

Episode 2

"This an enormous city," Lamont says, after they finally get out of the car. "The explosive could be anywhere."

A middle aged man strolls out of a convenience store, holding a plastic bag.

"There!" Lamont whispers, pointing. "Do you see him? It is one of Camouflage's henchmen! I shall force him to reveal where the bomb is!" He bursts forward.

"Wait!" Powell yells, running after him. "No!"

Lamont leaps in front of the man, blocking his path. "Freeze villain!" he screams.

"Jesus Christ!" the man shouts. He stares, wide-eyed, at Lamont's costume.

"You are holding a package of documents that detail the location of the bomb placed by your evil master!" Lamont says. "Hand it over and I shall leave you unharmed."

The man glances at his bag. "You mean this? My wife made me run out for milk..."

Powell tugs at Lamont's arm. "Um... I don't think this guy knows anything... we should, uh, leave him alone and keep looking for the bomb..."

"He simply requires... persuasion..." Lamont reaches into a pouch at his belt and pulls out a thick wrench. He waves it in front of the man. "The documents..." he says.

The man takes a step back. "Hey, hey, sure!" He hands Lamont the bag. "Here, take it, whatever you want!"

"A wise choice... Now! Surrender yourself to the police, or I shall hunt you down, personally. And next time I will not be so... restrained."

"Okay, sure, whatever you say..." The man steps back and then runs off.

"Criminals," Lamont says, shaking his head. "Cowards, every one of them." He opens the bag. "Now! To examine the papers." He reaches in and pulls out a gallon bottle of one percent milk. "Damn it! I was wrong. This is not a cache of documents."

"Um... I guess not..."

"It is a container of liquid plutonium. That villain was obviously fleeing after arming the weapon... We have less time than I thought." He walks quickly down the street. "Come, Pan Boy, we must hurry!"

Powell rolls his eyes. "Oh boy," he mumbles, and follows after him.
