Week 20 - Impossible Dreams 7

Episode 1

Powell and Lamont pull out of the driveway.

"Uh, where are we going, Mr. Lamont?" Powell asks.

"Don't call me that, Pan Boy," Lamont says, through his mask. "Even in private. When we're in our uniforms, we must refer to each other by code names. We must always remember to protect our secret identities."

"Oh, um, Okay. Where are we going, uh... Coyote Man?"

"We head toward... the city."

"New York?" Powell stares at him, alarmed.

Lamont shakes his head. "New York is protected by many other heroes... Spiderman, Daredevil, the Fantastic Four... All make their bases there." He turns the car onto a large street, lined with malls and supermarkets. "I refer to the local municipality... Huntington!"

"Oh... Huntington isn't really a city, is it? More like a big town..."

"It is a great metropolis and it is threatened by hordes of villains and evildoers. It cries out for a champion. Even now, I have reason to believe that my greatest foe, Captain Camouflage, in a twisted attempt at revenge, has planted an atomic bomb somewhere in its environs."

"Uh... Captain Camouflage?"

"He knows I patrol Huntington each night. If it means my death, he doesn't care how many innocents become collateral damage. The bomb will go off by sunrise. We must locate and defuse it before then, or a multitude will be incinerated."

They drive for a few minutes more and enter the town. The streets are mostly empty, but the roads are lined with parked cars.

"And now, Pan Boy," Lamont says. "Our patrol begins. We embark on stage one of our mission."

"Um... Finding the atomic bomb?"

"No. We must first perform an even more difficult feat." He looks up and down the avenue. "We must locate... A parking spot!"
