Week 18 - Impossible Dreams 5

Episode 4

"Let me get this straight," Rantz says. "This rich guy, Donald Lamont really believes he's a superhero called Coyote Man... And now he wants you to wear a costume and become his sidekick?"

"Uh, right," Powell says.

"And you're actually considering this?"

"Uh... well... yes."

"You're going to get yourself killed or arrested!" Rantz shakes his head. "You're as crazy as he is, you know that?"

"No... we'd... his daughter promised me an exclusive for the magazine. All I'd have to do is keep him out of trouble for two months. Then... then we could write whatever we want. It'd be a huge story."

"So you're going to wear a mask and tights and run around Long Island fighting imaginary crime? You're completely out of your mind!"

"But... Harry thinks I should do it."

"That's 'cause Harry's like an irresponsible little kid! Everything's a game for him. I thought you were more... more mature!"

"But... He thinks I'd be able to write a book about it!"

"A book?"

"Yeah... uh... Harry thinks it'd be a best seller."

"A book..." Rantz bites his thumb. "I guess... We could sell it through direct mail to our subscribers... Send every one of 'em junk mail hawking it..."

"Uh... but you're right... it, uh, it is a pretty crazy idea, when you think about it."

"If we could get five or six percent to buy it... we charge, I don't know, thirty dollars or something... we could make... we could make a lot!"

"I think I'm going to tell them I won't do it. It's just too insane."

Rantz reaches for his computer's mouse and loads a spreadsheet program. "Hold on a minute... Let's not be hasty..."
