Week 16 - Impossible Dreams 3

Episode 4

Harry jumps up from his chair. Then he catches his breath and sits back down. "Okay, kid, start from the beginning."

"I've, uh... been conducting interviews... different people around Long Island who saw Coyote Man in action. They... they all say more or less the same thing. He thinks he's a superhero... he picks... kind of, random things, and attacks them... he seems to think he's fighting super villains..."

"All right, that's old news..."

"The last woman I spoke with... a Crossing Guard... She saw Coyote Man's daughter pull up in a car... she heard what he said to her... She said he called her 'Lucille'."

"Coyote Man has a daughter named Lucille? What does that prove?"

"Harry, listen! Donald Lamont called his daughter Lucille..."

"Donald Lamont!"

"And he lives right near where all the sightings have been. Harry, it's got to be him!"

"Jesus! It's so obvious! Lamont starts out as a lunatic-in-training who thinks comic book characters are real. Then he graduates to a full fledged psychopath who thinks he's a superhero himself!"

"But should we print it? I... I mean we already did one article where we practically said he was crazy. He's... he's a really nice old guy... I don't want to hurt him..."

"Of course we should print it! This is huge! Besides, someone else'll figure it out eventually... someone's gonna get the story, might as well be us... But we can't write something like that without proof..."

"Uh... what should I do?"

"What do you think you should do! Go over there, talk to him! See what he has to say."

Powell nods. "Okay." He walks toward the door.

"Kid," Harry says, "you're brilliant!"

"Uh... thanks." Powell leaves.

Harry shakes his head. "Donald Lamont!" he says.
