Week 12 - Impossible Dreams 1
Episode 4
Rantz talks with Harry.
“Your son saw this Coyote Man guy?” Harry asks. “He actually saw him?”
“He didn’t just see him,” Rantz says. “He was attacked by him… Or, at least, his bicycle was…”
“This is great! This is a giant scoop! We’ve got to interview your kid right away!”
“Hold on… I don’t know what you’re thinking, but I don’t want Hal involved. He’s having enough problems adjusting to New York as it is without getting mixed up with your insanity.”
“Come on, man, we’ve got some freakazoid running around, dressing up like a real life superhero, saying he’s gonna protect Long Island from evil doers! Our reader’s’ll lap this up!”
“That’s fine… Just keep Hal out of it.”
“All right, all right… It’s still a great story… We need to get working on a cover right away… Where’s Celeste? Did she get in yet?”
“Um… Didn’t you see the e-mail she sent from home?”
“What? Let me check…” He turns toward his computer and grips the mouse. “Let’s see… ‘Fire your boss’… ‘Nude Britney photos’… ‘Enlarge your’… Here it is… ‘I will not be coming in today. I will be taking a personal day due to severe existential angst.’ Again! Damn it!”
“Again? She’s done that before?”
“Every couple of months she starts to question her place in the universe. Paralyzes her for days.”
“And you let her get away with this?”
“What can I do? She’s a good Art Director. No one draws Saturn like she does.”
“I’ve been trying to figure out if reality exists independent of our observations of it… Can I take the rest of the day off?”
“That’s an easy one! Reality’s continuously generated at the junctures between objective matter and subjective perception. Now get back to work!”
“Wait a minute… I don’t know if I’ve got free will or if everything is predetermined… Can I at least take a long lunch?”
