Week 10 - The Wet Laptop
Episode 2
Rantz and Liza talk in their den.
“I can’t get any work done on the train!” Rantz says. “Every time I try to do anything, I get distracted by some bozo talking on their cell phone.”
Liza rolls her eyes. “Here we go again with the complaining!”
“It’s not even like anyone’s saying anything important. They all just babble nonsense!”
“Where do you come off deciding what is and isn’t important to people?”
“All I know is, I can’t concentrate around so much noise.”
“Hold on a minute…” Liza leaves the room for a moment, then returns holding a pad and pen. “Okay,” she says. “Could you describe exactly how you feel when folks annoy you with their cell phones?”
“What?”
“You’ve inspired me! I’m gonna write an article on how grouchiness increases in middle aged men.”
“Really?”
“Maybe…”
“All I’m saying is that I wish people would have some consideration!”
“You should get a job as a rail baron! Then you could have your own private car, like J. P. Morgan or Rockefeller…”
“Maybe you should write an article on how sarcasm increases in middle aged women…”
Liza puts down the pen and pad. “You just need to relax. Do your work and ignore whatever’s going on around you.”
“That’s easy to say. But I can’t think with all that chatter. I don’t know why I even bother bringing the laptop.”
“How’s your back feeling, by the way? Better, now that you’re not carrying that heavy computer case?”
“It seems to be Okay. That old satchel I’m using now is much lighter. I just hate that it’s so ugly...”
Liza picks up the pad and pencil. “Describe exactly how you feel when you carry the ugly satchel…”
