Week 4 - The Can - Part 2
Episode 4
Rantz talks with Harry Cunningham in Harry’s office.
“No matter what I try to do, I can’t get rid of that damn garbage can,” Rantz says. “I think it’s time to give up.”
“Makes sense to me.” Harry reaches into a bag on his desk and pulls out a small black cake. “Ding Dong?”
“No thanks… It’s just that I really hate to quit. It’s like I’m admitting defeat.”
“Listen to me… I’ve been the publisher of a magazine for geeks for a long time… And there’s one thing I’ve learned. Quitting is underrated. People don’t appreciate it.”
“How do you mean?”
“For instance… If Napoleon had stopped at Italy, everything would have been fine, right? But no, he had to go on to Egypt and Russia and you know what happened then.”
“I guess…”
“If Bob Dylan had died in that motorcycle accident, he’d be like a god now, bigger than Elvis! But he lived and so no one gives two toots.”
“You make a good point.”
Harry pulls out another cake and jams it into his mouth. “Sure you don’t want one? These things are delicious.”
“Thanks anyway…”
“And Lucus! Don’t even get me started on Lucus! Why, oh why, couldn’t he just leave the original trilogy in peace?”
“Um…”
“Every day I wake up and pray that it’s all been some terrible nightmare. I figure, there’s no way Jar Jar could ever have made it past a first draft!” He grabs a cake and eats it. “And another thing… Ultimate Spiderman! There was a problem with regular Spiderman?”
“I’m not sure what you’re talking about…”
“Go… Leave me to cry in my Ding Dongs!”
“Um… Maybe that’s a good idea.” Rantz leaves.
Harry pulls out another cake. “Star Trek: Enterprise,” he says, shaking his head. He shudders and shoves the pastry into his mouth.
