Week 3 - The Can - Part 1

Episode 3

Rantz and Hal stand in front of their house. Rantz has just finished taping a sheet of paper to the can.

“What’s that?” Hal asks.

“It’s a sign. It says ‘Please take me. I am trash.’ It’s so the garbage men will know to haul away the can. Otherwise they don’t realize I want to throw it out.”

“Dad, you are so… I mean… That is so lame.”

“You were going to say that I was lame, weren’t you?”

“No I wasn’t.”

“You were, admit it.”

“Well, I didn’t. You can’t get mad at me because of what I almost said.”

“I guess that wouldn’t be fair… But it was still mean.”

“Jeez! Talk about thought police!”

“Well, it was! It was mean!”

“All right! I’m sorry! I apologize! Are you happy now?”

“I’m going back in. I just hope they finally pick this damn can up tomorrow.” He walks into the house.

After a moment, Chuck Agnew walks over from next door. “Hey,” he says.

“What’s up?” Hal answers.

“What’s that sign supposed to be?”

“My dad put it there. It’s so the garbage men know to haul away the can.”

Chuck reads the sign. “Man!” he says after a moment. “Your dad is so lame.”
