Week 3 - The Can - Part 1
Episode 2
Rantz stands, holding a cup, by the coffee machine in the offices of Fiddle and Burn Magazine. “I’m trying to throw away an old garbage can, but I’m having problems. The garbage men don’t realize I want them to take it.”
“Wow!” Powell says. “What a great paradox!”
“I would just go talk to them, but they come so early…”
“How do you throw away a garbage can? That’s classic!”
“If you say so...”
“Yeah!... Uh... It’s like, can God make something so strong even He can’t break it?”
“I just wanna get rid of the damn thing.”
“Or, like… you can’t get out of combat unless you say you’re crazy, but if you say you’re crazy that proves you’re sane.”
“My wife is having conniptions. She’s been nagging me to get it off the property since we moved in.”
“Or... How do you describe a sunset to a blind man?”
“Maybe I’ll tape a sign to it, so the garbage men will know it’s trash.”
“I always think stuff like that kind of gives us a hint to the nature of consciousness.”
Rantz finishes his cup and throws it away. “Anyway, I’ve gotta get back to work…”
“It’s like… What comes before the Big Bang? That one really makes me dizzy!”
“See you later.” Rantz leaves.
Powell shakes his head. “I think I’ll go lie down for a few minutes.”
