Week 2 - Playing With Toys
Episode 4
Rantz talks with Harry. “I’m having a problem with Shari Kern,” he says.
“Shari’s been here… what?... two years. Rachel didn’t have any trouble with her when she was Circ. Director.”
“Well… I don’t want to cause any unpleasantness when I’m just starting out. But she’s supposed to be my assistant, and she’s really difficult to work with. She’s very uncooperative.”
Harry opens a draw on his desk and pulls out a small toy. “Check it out! I had Powell get ‘hold of it. It’s that Jango Fett he was talking about, the Star Wars bounty hunter, out of battle armor!”
“Um… That’s a nice doll…”
“It’s not a doll! It’s an action figure!”
“Oh… What’s the difference?”
“Dolls are for girls… To make Barbie and Ken get all kissie kissie… Ugh… Action figures are for guys… You use them to enact elaborate fantasy adventure scenarios.” He points to a display case filled with figures that hangs on one wall. “I’ve been collecting ‘em since I was a kid.”
“Okay… Anyway, I’m not looking to cause any problems for anybody… Maybe you could just have a talk with Shari… Let her know that she needs to try to work with me…”
“Right…”
“You know… to meet me half way.”
“Right… Hey! I just thought of something!” He reaches into his draw again and pulls out a female action figure. “Jango… Meet Leia, the Jedi Princess… Leia, meet Jango.” He pushes them against each other.
“What are you doing?”
“Maybe I can get them together.”
“Oh… So you’ll speak with Shari?”
“Sure, sure…” Harry pulls back the female figure and talks in a high voice. “Oh Jango! I’ve never met anyone like you before!”
“Thanks.” Rantz leaves.
Harry holds up the male figure and speaks in a deep voice. “Come to me, Leia, and we shall breed a race of super bounty hunter Jedi!”
