Week 2 - Playing With Toys
Episode 1
Rantz talks with Harry Cunningham, Publisher and Editor in Chief of Fiddle and Burn: World of Fandom Magazine. It’s Rantz’s first day as the new Circulation Director.
“We’re all over anything that has to do with comic books or science fiction,” Harry says. He grabs a handful of potato chips from a bag on his desk and shoves them into his mouth. He tilts the bag toward Rantz. “Want some?”
“No thanks… On the phone you told me you focus on a literary perspective...”
“The literary perspective’s our thing. We’re all over the intellectual angle. Like the metaphors… The deeper meanings.”
“Deeper meanings?”
“Like the way mythic archetypes are constantly reused… Like a superhero and sidekick as a knight and his squire.”
“That’s actually pretty interesting…”
“We’re all over that kind of stuff. We’re…”
The door bursts open and an out of breath young man bursts in.
“Harry! You’re not gonna believe this!” he shouts.
“What? What?”
“I just got off the line with LucusArts! They’re releasing a new Jango Fett action figure!”
“So? For that you interrupt a meeting?”
“You don’t understand! The new figure’s not in battle armor! It’s not in armor!”
“What! Not in armor!” Harry clutches his chest. “My pace maker!”
